The Upper Mississippi River Valley area is an important stopover on the main migratory bird route that funnels a major portion of North Americas birds right down the Mississippi River on their way South. With abundant wetlands, forests and the river itself, everything from Bald Eagles to Canada Geese to the smallest Hummingbird will pass through here twice a year. This offers endless opportunities for photographing birds, to anyone with a camera and the will to use it.

While many birds can be photographed right from your car window, and others require that you walk the paths through the wetlands or visit the parks and river walks around the city, you can also shoot bird pictures right from a window of your own house.
